Club Fact

The success of a typical booster club has been compared to a roller coaster ride. For a couple of years a club is blessed with some very dedicated and talented individuals who help bring growth and success.

Then with the graduation of their son's or daughters they are gone. Leaving the club grasping for support, guidance, knowledge, and solutions to continued growth. A continual up and down trip that dearly costs a booster club and the activity it supports.

Until Command Central, clubs have had no solid answer to this problem. If your club hasn't already enrolled with the NBCA do so now and start taking advantage of the tools designed exclusively for booster clubs.

Dear Booster.....

Dear Booster,
We really have poor attendance at all our sports activities at our school. We are a very prominent high school with little participation from the parents with the exception of those whose child participates in a given sport. You know, them same group is always doing the event's. What can we do pre-game and during half time to spark the interest of the community to attend? We do 50/50 tickets, we are also looking at a field goal attempt at all our home games this year. The winner will receive a $500.00 scholarship for their child at the last home game in a kickoff between the (2) top individuals who made it through challenges from all other participates during the season. Help?
Sincerely,
BDL Warr

Dear BDL,
A sad trend that is spreading across the country is the support of extra-curricular activities. This is a trend that is found within the medium to larger cities where attendance at activities has dwindled to some embarrassing numbers.

A winning program, a cross town rivalry, an incentive to support the cause. These have all been proven to increase attendance. A strong and supportive booster club has also been proven to increase attendance at games and events.

We as parents have no say or control in the winning season, we do however have the ability to create an environment where parents, alumni and community supporters will come and support the activity or event. Tailgate parties prior to the event, fan appreciation nights where a local sponsor provides free poms or a bag of popcorn, sponsoring an alumni night where all alumni attend the event at 1/2 price. Creative encouragement is key to increasing attendance. Make the event special, develop an added incentive or activity to encourage them to attend and remember that a strong booster club in full attendance and support, each bringing 1 person will increase your attendance and start on the path to answering your problem.

Send us your Dear Booster.... article and we will select one each month to share with the readers of Booster Trends. To submit your question email dearbooster@boosterclubs.org.
