NORTH AMERICAN BOOSTER CLUB ASSOCIATION (NABCA) SET TO EXPAND INTO
CANADA
Kennewick, WA - December, 10, 2005– After nearly
seven years of providing support, guidance and assistance to booster
clubs throughout the United States the National Booster Club Association
announced recently that it has made the move to expand its support
services to include our neighbors to the north – Canada.
The expansion has caused the launching of the first North American
Booster Club Association (“NABCA”) which replaces the
existing National Booster Club Association,’
In announcing the recent expansion, President Steve Beden said, "Timing
and need have lined up to provide the perfect opportunity. Throughout
the United States and Canada and in growing numbers, extracurricular
programs are facing cutbacks and terminations at alarming rates. Now
is the perfect time to step in and help provide alternative solutions
to eliminating the very programs that help keep our kids in school,
out of gangs and off drugs." The organizations Chief Financial
Officer, Reed Porter, also a native of Canada said "We understand
the need and are ready to provide the support that is missing in the
marketplace."
Over one-hundred years ago the PTA was formed to help support parent-teacher
groups primarily in the elementary school years. Today the North American
Booster Club Association is moving to provide support to a much larger
group that represents more than 65 different extracurricular programs.
The North American Booster Club Association (“NABCA”)
is the only national organization, which supports booster clubs. Booster
clubs are groups of parents, alumni and community supporters who actively
support extracurricular programs such as - sports, band, debate and
cheerleading. Booster Clubs are a key component to a successful extracurricular
program as they provide funding, volunteer support, upkeep for facilities,
fields and equipment, transportation, and scholarships. The NABCA
plans a kickoff in Arizona later this month followed by a 30+ city
national tour that will include stops in Canada.
